This world championship outrigger canoe race was hosted by Kai Opua Canoe Club. The event covers a two day period (Sept 2 & 3) and consist of races in the following catagories: OC6, OC1, OC2, and Double Hull. Saturday's races included 138 wahine canoes and 127 kane canoes for a total of about 1700 paddlers on the 18-mile course between Kailua Kona to Honaunau.
